GSA Delivers Huge IT Opportunity to 43 Small Businesses

Just in time for Christmas, another huge government contract has come down the pike.

This time, it is a blanket-purchase agreement for commodity IT products. The General Services Administration has named 43 companies as winners of the contract, which will be used to buy tablets, mobile products, monitors, video teleconference equipment, laptops, desktops, notebooks, netbooks and data center equipment, GSA said in a statement.

Each year, about $1.7 billion worth of these products are sold through GSA, the agency said.

All of the winners are small businesses, including women-owned, disadvantaged, veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned companies.

GSA is touting the procurement for its streamlined processes, which will allow the vendors to add new products within 24 hours; however, lowering costs is the primary driver of the contract, as well as increasing opportunities for small businesses, GSA said.
